MOISTURE FOR DAYS || THE LCO METHOD
Hey people,
I am very sorrrrry… I know I have been absent for a while. I
started a YouTube channel (it is a little difficult to divide my attention to
both places… I promise to try my best though).
I hope our hair is still alive and healthy.:)
Let me get right to the post.

I am guilty of forgetting to moisturize my hair daily. I had
heard about the LOC method to help retain moisture. The LOC method stands for
Liquid-Oil-Cream. I know people who can swear by it that it helps retain
moisture. I started to find out more about and saw many (I mean MANY!) blogs comparing
LOC and LCO. I am now for LCO, though most will argue that the other does not
matter because there will be some amount of mixing up.
LCO stands for Liquid-Cream-Oil. This method is to help
retain moisture in your hair. I was never a fan of this method, because I hate
oil in my palms (it’s just uncomfortable for me).
I fell in love with this method May 2016 (yes I remember). I
was in twists for quite a while and it just kept drying up.
HOW DO I DO THIS?
The whole idea of the initial LOC method was to apply water or water-based product (leave-in), the an oil and finally sealing with a cream or gel (shea butter is a good sealant). This method did not retain as much moisture for me compared to LCO. Remember everyone's hair is different, what may work for you might not work me.
Some people would probably dampen their hair a little before
applying cream, it can be a hair lotion or a leave-in conditioner, then seal it
with an oil ( I use coconut or castor oil).
I prefer to mix up the cream and water in one spray bottle
(easier and faster way). I decides not to add the oil to the mixture because I
need it to be on its own in order to seal it even better. When I tried mixing
the oil in one bottle, moisture was not retained as much as applying it
separately.
When I do this, my hair is moisturized for 48 hours and
more. I always try my best to repeat this after 2 days (I really try).
FAQS
- Can I do it while in braids (or any protective style)? Yes, you can. Weaves might be difficult but not impossible.
- Can I use any oil? I would stick to heavier oils/sealing oils. Coconut oil and castor oil are easy to find though.
This method is just amazing. I would recommend it to anyone,
anytime.
THANKS FOR READING. (I PROMISE TO TRY BE A LITTLE MORE
ACTIVE).

ApHogee Hair Treatment. Harsh Protein Treatments!
Hello my healthy hair beauties,

NB:
·
TREATMENTS
ARE DELICATE, THEREFORE EVERY INSTRUCTION IS IMPORTANT AND MUST BE FOLLOWED.
Ok so my twin sister got this treatment set, I honestly did
not know what the fuss was about till I tried it. This is a harsh protein
treatment, therefore if you are protein sensitive please research more.
This is a two-step strengthening treatment from ApHogee (Serious care and protection).
It is best used by a professional who knows what he/she is
about. In Ghana though most of our “wayside” established salons have their
hairstylists claiming they know how to do it already. The other salons we can
actually trust also charge too much so I end up doing most things myself.
This treatment includes;
- Two-Step Protein Treatment
- Balancing Moisturizer

Two- Step Protein Treatment
I wish I could talk about the ingredients, but honestly I do
not know the purpose of all. It has the smell of egg. On the bottle, it has
written on it benefits such as;
- Stops hair breakage on even badly damaged hair
- Rebuilds hair structure for six weeks
WHEN USED AS
DIRECTED!
After you shampoo your hair, towel blot your hair. Apply
enough of the treatment to saturate your hair. You could use a WIDE TOOTHED COMB for even
distribution. Now let it dry up. LEAVE
HAIR UNCOVERED! You would need a hooded dryer, but if that is not available
a blow dryer could be used. When using the blow dryer, the hair should not be
agitated while drying. DO NOT COMB OR
BRUSH OR PUT ANY TOOL IN THE HAIR DURING THE DRYING PROCESS, THE HAIR BECOMES
EXTREMELY HARD.
For Naturals, I suggest not to twist the hair into sections.
This is to allow every part to dry well.
Once dried, wet your hair one again, to loosen up the
stiffness. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Proceed to the next step.

Balancing Moisturizer
A protein treatment should be followed with a moisturizing
treatment.
ApHogee provided a balancing moisturizer to follow up the
protein treatment. This helps restore moisture and also masks the egg smell
from the protein treatment. Apply to hair and scalp after the treatment has
been washed out. Leave on for two (2) minutes and rinse thoroughly.
During the protein treatment my hair became super stiff,
after the balancing moisturizer my hair felt super soft.
I went to the salon the next day for cornrows, the hairdresser
was surprised no hair was found in the comb after combing.
I give this product a 4.5/5. My hair loved it.

PROTEIN TREATMENTS ???
NB: I AM NO HAIR-PROFESSIONAL. THIS IS MY OPINION. I AM OPEN TO LEARN NEW THINGS FROM YOU.
Most of the time, when I want to understand
something hair related I link it to a tree.
Recently I found out that as soon as hair escapes from
your scalp it is actually dead. I have my told myself I will not believe that
so I am sticking to my tree theory.
Anyway since the hair is already “dead” but we still
want to keep it alive, we need to need to care for it like it still has a
thousand years to go. One of these cares
is the protein treatment.
Honestly when I started my hair journey it was strange
for me, but as time went I realized the importance.

In Science we termed
Protein foods as body-building foods and they helped with the repairing aspect
too. It is not so different from the hair. It strengthens the hair hence
reducing breakage from weak, brittle hair.
I usually used protein treatments before and after
long-term protective styles. PROTEIN TREATMENTS MUST BE FOLLOWED WITH
MOISTURIZING TREATMENTS.

Protein treatments are very much different in
composition, so I agree some would be harsh than others. I personally want to
group protein treatments into 3(three) – I don’t know how many groups people
give to it. Based on my experiences I would group them under mild, mid-harsh
and harsh.
Guest blogger Susana Tulasi is covering egg
treatments which under my category falls under mild. Later post I will review
mid-harsh and harsh protein treatments.
