Most people would probably think protective styling is braids or weaves…..but I think otherwise…

What exactly is protective styling….anything to protect the hair from breaking…generally damage

So I guess twisting your hair for a week or more is also protective styling…….braiding with your own hair is also protective styling…..is definitely protecting your hair so it qualifies

Is there anything like the best protective style?? Nope….. know your hair you would no what it loves….

For instance my hair breaks more in corn rows…so weaves is not my favourite but sometimes you want to change your look….no pain no gain right (hahahaha)

How long should you keep in protective styles? 6-8 weeks maximum (well excluding the artificial dread locks..that can go longer)

But many hairdressers would tell you the smaller the braid you can keep it longer….first of all you are natural/un-relaxed (any how you call it) small tiny braids should be your enemy…..and also I think how you take care of your hair in protective styles would let you know how long….

Next question….am I supposed to still take care of my hair in a protective style….doesn’t the protectective style do that for me?

Baby…..your hair needs some love….just because the sore has been bandaged up doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be dressed up…come on!!!!

HOW DO PROTECT MY HAIR IN A PROTECTIVE STYLE?

First of all moisturize….i definitely try my best to moisturize my braids every day or two…when I two-strand twist…every day… not a fan of having oily hands get a spray bottle…get a diy moisturizer voila!

I also try to wash my braids every two weeks because I am not a fan of like oily or sticky hair from product build up…

Last but not least massage your scalp ….especially your edges when in braids….
