The weather is so dry now. It even dries out the hair. Dry hair leads to breakage. You might think just protective style and everything would be solved. Unfortunately that is not totally true because you still have to moisturize in protective style. I decided to start this moisture plus regimen as soon as my weave came off because I couldn't get to every area on my scalp under the weave. That is Greenhouse effect ( GHE)
WHAT EXACTLY IS GHE?
well its no different to the greenhouse effect of plants. You are cutting out the oxygen the hair is forced to produce nutrients from the root to the ends.

WHY GHE?
The primary reason for GHE is for hair growth. Many good reviews all over the Internet from people all around the world. But I realised every morning when I take off my plastic cap it feels really moist and my hair does not dry out as fast anymore.

WHAT DO YOU NEED FOR GHE?
A PLASTIC CAP!!!!!!! some people may use a shower cap but it is plastic so still counts (I have not tried it though)
Oil or moisturizer of your choice.
A scarf to secure your plastic cap (if GHE is done in the night)
PROCEDURE
Just place the plastic cap over your head, secure it. VOILA! Ideally, people may practice the hot oil treatment or inversion method and conclude with GHE. I am usually in for the moisture so any moisturizer or oil or nothing at all works just fine for me. :)
DOES GHE HAVE A SPECIAL TIME?
No anytime is good. I know of lady who applied/practiced GHE when she was in a wig. So anytime is ideal depending on you.
HOW LONG SHOULD I HAVE THE PLASTIC CAP ON?
This also depends on you but please don't go 24 hours give your hair some breathing space. I usually do it overnight.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DO IT:
Listen to your hair. Everyone's hair is different. I do it overnight.
CAN IT BE DONE IN A PROTECTIVE STYLE?
I did it while in braids once..though I had to get a bigger plastic bag lol.. for weaves I don't think you would want to ruin the weave :)
NB: I only stuck to moisture restoration aspect of GHE. Fingers-crossed for a post on the hair growth part(lol I will need pictures to show)

Taking up the pain to teach black girls how to keep and get strong and healthy and lovey hair! Id like to seek your advice: my very long hair has really shortened since I moved from Ghana and my mum forbids me from cutting the perms to start natural all over. I have no idea how to go about it cos it keeps breaking even when I don't comb it. Then we can imagine what happens after combing. It's very terrible! Please I need advice if possible on how and what to do.
