Journey to thicker and longer hair. Oh…and fuller edges.
Start date- JULY 2015 –NOVEMBER 2015 (BREAK FOR 2-3 WEEKS),
DECEMBER 2015- PRESENT
THE WIGGING REGIMEN – This was a no-extensions protective
styling regimen, just wigs. It made my hair thicker and healthier not super
longer but a little length.
My preferred cornrows was the all-back type not the
bee-hive, because I wanted to try no-combing.
My hair care during this regimen is easy but annoying so get
a friend, yourself (if you can braid your own cornrows) or better still a
smiling hairstylist so even if she is raining insults on you in her head you
would not care.
RULES OR SHOULD I SAY TIPS FOR THIS REGIMEN
- Get your cornrows done (wash first of course, detangle, enjoy the feel of the comb for the last time). Your cornrows should not be too tiny, 6-8 is enough.
- Daily Moisturizing. I used to moisturize twice a day; morning and evening. Later I started moisturizing only in the mornings and apply an oil mixture at night. Sometimes I would greenhouse effect after I applied the oil.
- Weekly washes. You wash the cornrows. Do not the take them out! If you apply a lot of a products during the week, try to CO-wash mid-weekly.
- Air- dry when you wash your hair. No heat. It takes little time to try because technically your hair has been sectioned for quick drying.
- Re-braiding. If after drying your hair is not too messy causing you to pull on it (especially your edges) when putting on your wig, you can go another week with the cornrows. If messy get your friend, stylist or yourself to re-braid it row by row without combing just finger-detangling (remove one row finger detangle re-braid, continue for the other rows).
So this was my regimen for about 5 months out of my 7 months
with no-extensions or protective styles.
My results were mainly based on thickness (pictures below)
I loved the results and thinking of continuing. I think you
should also and let me know your experience.
