OK SO WHATS YOUR GOAL?: Mid-Back length ,for now.

 

 

DO YOU HAVE A REGIMEN? IF YES PLEASE SHARE? IF NO WHY NOT?: I wash weekly; pre poo with a mixture of shea butter and an extensive oil mixture (pleeenty oils! ). I leave it over night and wash the next day, following it with a black or green tea rinse. For my dc I add ORS hair mayonnaise to the equation. I'm yet to try diy dc's. One a month I invert and hot oil treat.

FAVOURITE PRODUCTS? WHY?:  MGL naturals;ors hair mayonnaise; coconut, jojoba, castor, avocado ,argan oils mixed with henna; argan oil shampoo and conditioner, dark and lovely oil moisturiser and leave in conditioner; herbalife shampoo and conditioner, hairfinity. mooore to come kraaa Lol.

 BAD HAIR MOMENT OR MOMENTS….LMAOOO:  Ooh one day, I asked a friend to help me take off my braids. heyy the way I didn't regret. She cut mooore than just my ends oo. It was a sadd time for me I promise. and the first time I tried banana as a deep conditioner, only to have banana pieces in my hair for weeks on end; I then learnt the importance of a blender

Kinks Curls and Coils (KCC) TURN UP!!!!!!!

It was a successful event...we were first 10 people to make so we got the "dark and lovely" goody bag :) (yaaaayy us!!)

We also got products....of which we shall give reviews in later posts...

Was it just fun??? Nope...started of with a natural hair 101 class... DIY with the "miracle plant"... aloe vera (can't wait to try it)....then the love for shea butter ♥♥....oh and maintaining twist outs and many more...

 

Bad news is...we were sooooo hungry :/ :(

But we enjoyed it and wouldn't mind going again. ..hope to see you there the next time :)

MASTERING THE WASH AND GO : 4C STYLE

mastering the wash and go: for my 4c sistas(le struggle is real)

      Yes my kinkies it has been a while, and trust me I miss you. But college is no joke*sweating*. Anyways I'm here to debunk the saying that is, 4c hair can't EVEN wash and go. I believed this too because well I tried(talk about disaster). I was so desperate i even endured a week of the maximum hydration challenge(talk about work!) and it still did not end well for me. indeed wash and gos were definitely not for me and my fellow 4c sistas.

then the brains started working(finally). As 4c girls and basically all kinkies, we know we get curls when our hair encounters water, its like she(the mane) is so happy she curls up. but I noticed when i deep conditoned these curls were waaaaaaay more defined. it really did not matter what i used to deep condition, the longer it stayed under the cap the more those curls would define.

     so one day after my deep condition i rinsed it out, 5 minutes after the rinse out i employed the services of my trusty Fantasia IC hair polisher styling gel

you must be very generous with the application. part your hair in columns and coat generously from root to ends

my more informed wash and go with ic gel. 

    unfortunately this style completely depleted my already ailing gel. my fellow sistas Miranaya and Dorcey gushed about ecostyler gel, so i decided to get me my own ecostlyer gel with argan oil.(it was waaay bigger and on sale too)

this was about two and half hours after i applied ecostyler gel(i had to rush somewhere immediately after, so i could not take photos)

these two were taking the day after! my wash and go survived the night!(i did twist them, so the would not shrink)

    and it did not just stop there it went on to its 3rd day!!

i am currently sitting writing this post, with my curls still popping, I plan on wearing it as a puff tomorrow.

NB:I would like to add that the if you can not deal with crunchy hair go with ic gel but if you want a long lasting DEEP CONDITION AND GO(lets call it as it is) ecostyler all the way.

WHY NATURAL HAIR?  you know in this part of the world, we cut our hair in High school. well,after high school i wanted to perm my hair but decided to keep it natural for a while before perming it. After a while, it became a competition between my friends and i. (ie who would last longer in the "natural business"). so yea.........

OK SO WHATS YOUR GOAL? thick and healthy waist length hair in 6 years or less 

DO YOU HAVE A REGIMEN? IF YES PLEASE SHARE? IF NO WHY NOT?  I do. Saturdays are wash days for me (whether in a protective style or not). I prepoo with warm coconut and olive oil mixture on friday night, wear my shower cap and bed it is. next morning, i shampoo (mostly with african black soap or my noni soap dilution), moisture or protein deep condition (depending on state of mes cheveaux), towel dry for a few seconds, apply my whipped shea butter and twist hair (if i'm nt in a protective style).

ORS REPLENISHING CONDITIONER AND ORS HAIR MAYONNAISE. make my hair softer and easy to manage and my hair retains moisture for a longer period as well. my hair just sings when i use them. Mine is almost done though so would be expecting restock from you. lol

ADVICE TO NATURALISTAS OUT THERE….th hair would come yeah. just be patient and love the stage you are in now because you can never  come back to it. do not forget your moistuuuurrreeee...

PROTECTIVE STYLING....SHOW YOUR HAIR LOVE...MUAHHHZZZ

Most people would probably think protective styling is braids or weaves…..but I think otherwise…   

What exactly is protective styling….anything to protect the hair from breaking…generally damage

So I guess twisting your hair for a week or more is also protective styling…….braiding with your own hair is also protective styling…..is definitely protecting your hair so it qualifies

Is there anything like the best protective style?? Nope….. know your hair you would no what it loves….

For instance my hair breaks more in corn rows…so weaves is not my favourite but sometimes you want to change your look….no pain no gain right (hahahaha)

How long should you keep in protective styles? 6-8 weeks maximum (well excluding the artificial dread locks..that can go longer)

But many hairdressers would tell you the smaller the braid you can keep it longer….first of all you are natural/un-relaxed (any how you call it) small tiny braids should be your enemy…..and also I think how you take care of your hair in protective styles would let you know how long….

Next question….am I supposed to still take care of my hair in a protective style….doesn’t the protectective style do that for me?

Baby…..your hair needs some love….just because the sore has been bandaged up doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be dressed up…come on!!!!

HOW DO PROTECT MY HAIR IN A PROTECTIVE STYLE?

First of all moisturize….i definitely try my best to moisturize my braids every day or two…when I two-strand twist…every day… not a fan of having oily hands get a spray bottle…get a diy moisturizer voila!

I also try to wash my braids every two weeks because I am not a fan of like oily or sticky hair from product build up…

Last but not least massage your scalp ….especially your edges when in braids….

#beforeidisappear….. AVOID TIGHT BRAIDS AT ALL COST…

 We are so sorry for being dormant for centuries……just saying…

But really we are…(forgive us #puppydogeyes)….school started so we had a lot doing but we should be pretty much settled now. So we are back with a boom!!!!!!!

Recap of things that have happenened since our abandonment of the blog

1.       Miranaya installed kinky twists and lost so much hair after. But after butt-long braids I guess her hair is recovering from trauma

2.       Imelda after rocking her natural hair, trying dyes and all ... currently she is protective styling with corn rows…awesome!!!!!!

3.       Dorcey also had kinky twists but didn’t lose hair like Miranaya (yaaaay her!) she rocked her hair for like a week and is in waist-long Brazilian weave (OMG!!!! Like 50 products gone :? )

So yeah this is our story…
